Notes from the Minister of Music

Happy New Year!

 

 

2012 holds lots of exciting musical events.  Our fabulous choir will share their beautiful anthems with us on Sunday mornings, and, on “non-Choir Sundays” we’ll hear a variety of vocalists and instrumentalists. 

 

The Sunday schedule through mid-June is:

            January 8 – The First Church Choir

January 29 – The First Church Choir

            February 5 – The Joyful Noises*

            February 12 – The First Church Choir

February 26 – The First Church Choir

            March 4 – The Joyful Noises*

            March 11 – The First Church Choir

March 25 – The First Church Choir

            April 1 – The First Church Choir (Palm/Passion Sunday)

April 8 – The First Church Choir, Brass and Tympani (Easter Sunday)

April 29 -The First Church Choir

            May 5 – The Joyful Noises*

            May 13 – The First Church Choir

            May 27 – The First Church Choir (Pentecost)

            June 3 – The Joyful Noises*

            June 10 – The First Church Choir

 

*The Joyful Noises is open to everyone, regardless of age or vocal ability.  Join us in the sanctuary at 9:45 for a brief rehearsal before singing a simple anthem at our worship service.

Non-choir Sundays feature vocal and instrumental solos, duets, etc.  If you’d like to share a piece with us, please contact Dick Matteson.

 

Music on Main will offer a wide assortment of programs:  an encore “Sixteen Hands at Two Grands” concert on Sunday, February 26 at 3 p.m.; “Peter and the Wolf” for hand puppets, percussion and piano on Saturday, March 3 at 10 a.m.; the re-scheduled Amherst Area Churches’ Choir Fest on Sunday, April 29 at 3 p.m.; and the Fanfare Brass Choir and strawberry shortcake on the front lawn on Saturday, June 23 at 1 p.m.  See the Music on Main page for more details
