While we point proudly  to our record as one of the first Open and Affirming congregations in the country (1987; #8 in the UCC!), we are constantly listening to God and one another and challenging ourselves to re-consider what it means to live out our welcome. For more than 25 years we focused on embracing and affirming lesbians and gays; more recently, we have felt called to be more intentional about welcoming bisexual, transgender and queer folk, as well as to reach out to the homeless in our community.

NoHo Pride THIS Weekend (5/6/17)

And we’ll be there! Yes, even in the sogginess! This year, our 30th Anniversary of being and Open and Affirming church, we expect close to 30 of us from First Church to march, and more of us will be there to greet you in the non-profit tent. As usual, we’ll have information, swag, and friendly, warmhearted people to welcome you. We’ll be sporting our new First Church t-shirts:

No matter who you are, or where you are on life’s journey, you are welcome at First Church Amherst not only on May 14, but to all of our activities, both inside and outside of the church.  We hope to see you in worship.
